Software Architecture Review & Code Audit Services
An architecture review is a fixed-fee, three-to-six-week engagement that ends in a written recommendation your engineers can implement. Kiwimesh audits the current system, maps the risks against your roadmap, and answers the specific decision in front of you: monolith or services, how to sequence a data migration, whether to rewrite. You get diagrams, phases, and reasoning, not a slide deck.
“We're making architecture calls with real risk attached. We need a second opinion we can execute.”
For teams facing high-impact technical decisions: monolith vs services, data migration sequencing, platform rewrites, and resilience design. We assess your current system, constraints, and roadmap, then deliver a written architecture recommendation your team can implement.
What this covers
- •Current-state architecture audit
- •Scalability and reliability risk review
- •Monolith vs services decision framework
- •Data migration and integration strategy
- •Target architecture diagrams and rollout phases
- •Engineering advisory for execution planning
Best for
CTOs, engineering leaders, and product teams making high-stakes platform decisions
Typical engagement
3–6 weeks · Fixed fee · Written technical recommendation
How it works
What happens, in order.
01
Frame the decision
We start with the question you actually need answered and the constraints around it: team size, budget, timeline, compliance. The review is scoped to that decision.
02
Audit the current state
Code, data model, infrastructure, deployment, observability, and the last six months of incidents. We interview the engineers who live with the system.
03
Model the options
Two or three candidate architectures, each costed in effort and risk, with what breaks under load, under growth, and under your roadmap.
04
Recommend and phase
One recommendation with a phased rollout, the first phase detailed enough to start next sprint. We present it to your team and take their objections seriously.
What you get
Deliverables you can hold us to.
- Current-state architecture document with diagrams and data flows
- Risk register: scalability, reliability, security, and vendor lock-in
- Option analysis with effort and risk for each candidate architecture
- Target architecture diagrams and a phased rollout plan
- First-phase implementation plan your team can start immediately
- Presentation and Q&A with your engineering team
Questions
What people ask before they book a call.
Is this the same as a code audit?
A code audit is part of it. We read the repositories, infrastructure, and deployment pipeline and report on code quality, test coverage, security posture, and operational risk. An architecture review goes one step further and answers the decision that prompted the audit: what to change, in what order, and what it will cost. If you only need the audit, for example for technical due diligence before an investment or acquisition, we scope that as a shorter fixed-fee engagement.
Will you recommend rebuilding everything?
Rarely. Most systems need targeted changes, not a rewrite. When a rebuild is the right answer we show the comparison in effort, risk, and time-to-value, and we phase it so the business keeps shipping during the transition.
Do you need access to our code?
Yes, read access to repositories and infrastructure. Reviews done from diagrams alone miss the problems that matter. We sign your NDA first and work under our ISO 27001 controls.
Can you implement the recommendation?
Yes, but you are not obliged to use us. The recommendation is written so any competent team can execute it. If you want us to build, we quote the first phase as a fixed-price milestone.
Who does the review?
The founder leads every architecture review personally, with a senior engineer for the hands-on audit. Our background includes transit ticketing at four million users, real-time clinical data, and multi-tenant SaaS.
How long does it take?
Three weeks for a single well-framed decision on a system we can read quickly. Six weeks for a full platform review with multiple services and data stores. Fixed fee either way.
